IBM on Cloud Nine

This could be an upstart for much faster bandwidth and better web and app experience for tech-lovers across the globe. And of course a reason to smile for e-tailers who face bandwidth issues and customer woes during their peak seasons. The USPTO has awarded IBM a patent grant for its method that is expected to drastically improve network bandwidth in a cloud environment.

The patent protects IBM’s new method that assesses that available networking bandwidth and offers the best experience to users on a cloud platform. IBM states that with this patented technology it can help ensure surges in web traffic are handled effectively.

The patent states that as and when network bandwidth gets constrained in one node, this new system will ensure some of the VMs are reassigned to another node that has better bandwidth capacity. This is bound to relieve network bottlenecks and ensure users have a nearly trouble-free cloud experience.
