Robert Cantrell Brings 20 Years of Sales & Business Development Experience

iRunway, a technology research firm specializing in patent litigation and licensing, announced today that Robert L. Cantrell has joined the company as Vice President of Sales. The firm also opened a new office in the Washington DC area to address the growing client needs in that region.
Cantrell brings 20 years of experience in sales and business development in the intellectual property industry to enhance the company’s business pursuit efforts. Cantrell’s primary role will be to help build the sales function of the company and strengthen its visibility in the patent litigation and licensing marketplace.

Prior to joining iRunway, Cantrell was Principal at his consulting firm, Strategy Innovators/Center for Advantage. He also served as an IP Strategist at Think IP Strategy, where he led business development and consulting for the company. Robert has held key executive roles at CPA Global, Landon IP, IP.com, Manning & Napier and Thomson Information. Cantrell has authored two books on IP strategy: Outpacing the Competition: Patent-Based Business Strategy, which explores the business dynamics behind creating, acquiring, advancing, and defending patentable assets, and The Defense of the Mieza HChip: Intellectual Property Strategy for Hi-Tech Companies. He has several publications and blogs to his credit with an avid readership. Cantrell has conducted workshops on competitive intelligence and patent strategies while serving on the faculty of Patent Resources Group. In addition, Robert was an infantry officer with the Army 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles) and 11th Group Forces (Reserve). He received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and an MBA from Edinburgh Business School.
